South Cerney Angling Club will be holding its popular annual free angling taster day on Saturday, 17th August for anybody who would like to have a go. Supported by the Angling Trades Association, and its supporting partners, the event is held as part of National Fishing Month.
The day is aimed at encouraging every family member to have a go at fishing whatever the age, gender, or disability, or whichever cultural or social background they may be from. Fishing takes place on Gillman’s Lake, Wickwater Lane, South Cerney (Cotswold Water Park, Lake 23b), which offers great sport.
Whether you are new to angling, wish to improve on your current angling skills, or are looking for an activity to try for free during the summer holidays, each participant will receive one-to-one guidance from friendly qualified angling coaches who volunteer their time for these events. After the fishing session there is an opportunity to do some pond dipping, to learn about the bugs and fish that live in our waters.
The fishing sessions last for approximately 30 minutes, with all fishing tackle, bait, and licences provided.
Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited.
