Update Summer 2015: At present there are no quarries being excavated within the CWP where fossils are being found, so there are no planned Fossil Hunts in the near future. We are hopeful that this situation will change and as soon as it does, we will be in contact to organise some trips.
The CWP Trust runs organised Fossil Hunts for its members and the general public from time to time. These take place on a Sunday, lasting approximately 3-4 hours, and take place at various quarries, depending on excavations, water levels and permissions at the time.
These events are extremely popular, and as demand is always high, there is a waiting list. Priority for booking is given to the members of the Cotswold Water Park Trust, and they are given a week in which to book before booking is open to those on the waiting list.
Non members can be added to the waiting list by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be notified of dates of future fossil hunts, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
Quarries are extremely dangerous places and we do make sure that all measures are taken to ensure the safety of participants, but it is up to the individuals to make sure they are aware of all the risks and take all necessary precautions.
The current cost of a Fossil Hunt is £8.00 for adults / £5 for children. Please note we do not allow any children under the age of 5 , or any dogs . All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
