Cotswold Rowing Club

Cotswold Rowing Club was formed in late 2006 to provide a host club for the new Cleveland Lakes complex in the Cotswold Water Park between Cirencester and Swindon. The Cleveland rowing lake68a is currently 900 metres long with the extension to 1500 metres, by combining with lake68b, being planned for end 2008/ beginning 2009. he ultimate extension to form a 2Km course with a cooling down area, making a total 2.2 Kms, will follow once planning permission and funding have been obtained.

The Club would like to be rowing on Cleveland Lakes at this time but are constrained by Health and Safety issues related to the extended use of the site for gravel extraction and in-fill landscaping. However these activities are expected to cease by around end 2008, with some restoration work beyond that date. For these reasons the club has set up temporary arrangements with Waterland on lake 32 (Keynes Country Park).

Session times

The Club holds sessions on Thursday evenings from 6- 8pm and on Saturdays from 10am to Noon.
Scullers and other users can also use the facilities by prior agreement on weekday afternoons.

Facilities

The arrangements include boat storage, launch facilities off a beach, changing, shower and toilet facilities. Safety Launches are available but at extra costs and members need to be qualified in power boat handling up to RYA level 2 and undertake a familiarisation session with Waterland.

New members needed!

The Club needs to acquire more members, newer equipment, improve qualifications for both coaching and launch handling and conform to the requirements for Juniors/Schools training. Thus as many hands as possible are needed as well as sufficient funds to cover all the necessary costs for the start up as well as planning ahead for a new clubhouse and facilities at Cleveland Lakes.

If you cannot row at this time, just by joining and paying a subscription you will help the cause.

2008 Subscription levels

Full Members: £100 per year Junior Members: £50 per year
Associate Members: £50 per year Initial Joining Fee: £25

Students (over 18) already rowing, join the club and row free this summer.
