We are extremely grateful to Hills Group for their ongoing support of the work of the Trust, in the form of Landfill Communities Fund – this funding has a very real and positive impact on the landscape of the Cotswold Water Park in that it helps fund the Ranger team, the upkeep of several key public sites, provides funding for capital projects such as the improvements at Riverside Park Lechlade, and also enables the Trust to secure match funding from other sources.
Hills Group are also a great advocate of community engagement, and we work with them to provide access for school groups (eg Shipston High School GCSE students studying the impact of quarrying), local media, educational resources (Hills Shorncote was one of the sites for the making of Gravel is Great DVD), quarry tours for CWPT members, and access for wildlife surveys to name a few things.
The AI staff of Cleveland Farm Works have recently been involved is assisting the Trust Ranger team in much needed improvements around Cleveland Lakes, by providing materials, man power and machinery to help with footpath repairs, and installation and landscaping of picnic benches. We are really grateful for their enthusiasm and hard work – this type of partnership which should serve as an excellent example and model for the Cotswold Water Park as a whole.
