New year, new sightings!

Male smew c Andy Rouse

Exciting Christmas for birdwatchers

Not only were the high streets busy with shoppers over Christmas, but the lakes around the Cotswold Water Park have also been teeming with winter visitors.

For those lucky enough to have had time to get out and about for a bracing walk in the cold crisp air, the rewards were not far away.
Some of the more exiting species of birds were spotted in the area between December and January, such as a great white egret, an American green winged teal, a greater scaup, a Kumliens gull, red necked grebe and even a great northern diver, plus plenty of the stunning smew and gorgeous goosander!

If you would like to keep abreast of birds in the area, make sure you keep an eye on the birding blog for the Cotswold Water Park.
