30,000 reeds later….

Large scale planting takes place at Cleveland Lakes

Last week saw a mammoth reed planting effort by the Cotswold Water Park Estates and Rangers Service - as part of the wetland landscaping taking place at Cleveland Lakes for the ALSF project.
More than 30,000 young reed plants were distributed and planted amonst the shallows at the eastern end of Cleveland, adjacent to the new artist designed Reed Hide.

Along with the ranger team, as part of the community involvement, volunteers were invited to come along and make a difference. Students from Sparsholt College, Winchester and the staff of Whitmarsh Lockhart, Swindon all exerted enormous enthusiasm, despite the bad weather, and bent over backwards to help!
