Pump it up!
Local firemen take advantage of high water levels to test pump at Keynes Park
Much to the delight of the small children in the play area, the Cirencester firemen arrived in their big red fire engine at Keynes Park this week, but there was no emergency. They were on one of their regular training exercises - the vast volume of water in Lake 32 provides an excellent venue for them to carry out pump testing and training. With a tank capacity of 450 gallons, using the pump, the fireman can empty and refill this from the lake in a matter of minutes.
Graham Holland, of the Cirencester station said " We really appreciate being able to come up to Keynes Park and use this facility for our training and testing - it is close to Cirencester, and with so much space and water it is the ideal location for us".
The Cirencester firemen have been extremely busy over the summer providing assistance to the many flood victims in North Yorkshire and more nearby Gloucestershire.
