Water in all the right places
The Cotswold Water Park is open as usual for visitors
The Cotswold Water Park may be set within Gloucestershire, but so far the area has not been severely affected by the dreadful conditions which have recently beset Gloucester, Tewkesbury and surrounding villages. Although at the end of last week several places were affected by localised flooding, such as Shorncote and the Leigh, this has now subsided.
Ali Swainston, Director of Estates for the Society commented, " This quantity of rain will ensure that the lake levels will now remain high for the rest of the summer, as in previous years Keynes Park has been affected by low water levels." Access to the Cotswold Water Park is sufficiently far away from the Thames for it not to be affected by the adverse weather.
Keynes Country Park, just six miles from Cirencester, renowned for its inland beach, can offer plenty of exciting activities for families throughout the summer school holidays - playgrounds, boat and cycle hire, high ropes adventure course, lakeside walks, volleyball, cafe, shop, bathing and paddling beaches. With opening hours from 9am to 9pm, and free entry to Friends of the Cotswold Water Park Society this is an excellent site to spend a whole day.
