BBC Wildlife magazine

Cotswold Water Park features in popular publication.

If you buy the February edition of the well known BBC Wildlife magazine, the 'world's best wildlife magazine', you may just recognise some of the places featured in the Travel section.

Local wildlife journalist James Fair frequently visits the Cotswold Water Park and last year decided to write a piece featuring some of the stunning wildlife found here.

Entitled 'Watery Wonderland', James introduces the reader to places slightly off the beaten track, and yet which are notable for some of the most spectacular wildlife sights and sounds in the UK.

In April, he visited North Meadow in Cricklade, nationally famous for the sea of snake's head fritillaries and other hay meadow flowers. In May he joined one of the regular nightingale evening events, organised by the Society and was enthralled that the 'rich vibrant notes of two, three or even four nightingales coursed out..in such a way that I felt my own body pulsating'.
He was also fortunate to have had a guided tour of the privately owned beaver lake at Lower Mill Estate, but did not spot any of the elusive creatures.
