There are lakes within the Cotswold Water park where it is legal and safe to swim - read on!


Although there is a lot of water in a lot of lakes here in the Cotswold Water Park, many of these lakes are extremely deep and dangerous, with strong undercurrents and discarded machinery presenting serious dangers for all. Please do not attempt to swim in any of the lakes unloess they are mentioned below.

Public swimming

There is a large inland beach and bathing area at Cotswold Country Park, along with a paddling area for small childlren.

Open water swimming

There are places where it is possible to do open water swimming by prior arrangement, and with certain time restrictions etc.
