Keynes Country Park provides an excellent location with activities to suit everyone, from playing on the beach to walking to scenic nature reserves and bird hides for some serious birdwatching.

Facilities

Bathing beach

During the summer months, this popular beach is supervised by lifeguards at weekends and weekdays during school holidays, weather permitting. However, children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Inflatables are allowed in the water, and you will find an excellent selection on sale at Keynes Park!
Dogs are not permitted on the bathing beach.


Playgrounds

Under 8’s – totally enclosed, with grassed area, picnic benches, climbing frame, paddling beach, the famous diggers, Alice in Wonderland slide, plus boardwalk along the lake.
Over 8’s
Swings, wobbly slide, climbing fort and play lorry, situated next to the beach.


Boat hire

Pedalos, katakanus, rowing boats, water bike, glass bottom boat all available for hire. Recovery boat service, and buoyancy aids free when hiring boats. Seasonal opening times. For hire rates and more information go to www.go-by-cycle.co.uk


Cycle hire

Fun for all ages, with children’s and adult’s bikes for hire by hour, day or week.

Barbecues

There are several small free barbecues around the park which are available on a first come first served basis. For larger groups there is a choice of three large barbecues, all in picturesque settings around the park which can cater for 50-100 people.
Prices start at £45 on weekdays. It is essential to book these group barbecues in advance, as demand is always very high in the summer season - please contact the Society office on 01285 861459, or email info@waterpark.org


Aerial adventure

For high adrenalin, high ropes action, Head for Heights is open to the public most weekends and school holidays. They also cater for group bookings, corporate days and team builidng events. For more information go to www.head4heights.net, or call 01285 770007.


Watersports

Cafe

During the summer months the lakeside cafe serves hot drinks, refreshments and light snacks. During the winter months the Keynes Park shop serves hot drinks and cakes.
Ice creams and cold drinks are on sale all year round in the Keynes Park shop.


Nature reserves

Coke's Pit Local Nature Reserve is located just along the road from the entrance to Keynes Park.
A 20 minute walk from the north west corner of Lake 31 will take you to Shorncote Reedbed, where from the bird hide you can observe the amazing variety of winter waterbirds and summer migrants.


Angling

Day tickets are available from the Ranger's Office at Keynes Park. The fishing is managed by Ashton Keynes Angling Club - for more details of membership and other AKAC lakes, go to Ashton Keynes Angling Club


Blue Badge holders

Blue Badge holders are permitted free entry to Keynes Park all year round, but their carers and friends accompanying them will be charged the applicable rate, unless they are a Friend of the Cotswold Water Park Society.


Group visits

25% discount off entrance charge if booked in advance for groups of 12 or more.


Dogs

Dogs are allowed in Keynes Park, although they are not allowed on the bathing beach, and the children's play area.
Why not let your dog have a refreshing swim from the 'dog swimming beach' along Lake 32 towards Head for Heights high ropes course?


Oak Hall hire

The superb location of the Oak Hall in the Millennium Building makes it an ideal setting for meetings, functions, talks and weddings. Seating for up to 50 people; black out blinds; projector screen;toilets;easy parking.

Location

Keynes Park is easily accessible from the A419 Swindon to Cirencester dual carriageway.
Take the B4696 South Cerney exit, travel west along the Spine Road for 1.5 miles and go straight over the crossroads junction. Turn right to Keynes Park after 0.75 miles - signposted.
