‘My Wild Life’ – Illustrated talk by Mike Dilger

Sorry this event is now SOLD OUT!

A regular visitor and a big fan of the Cotswold Water Park, the Trust are delighted to welcome Mike Dilger to the Gateway Centre, where he will give an entertaining and informative talk. Mike has been an obsessive naturalist since childhood; equally at home either on his hands and knees getting to grips with British beetles or researching Amazonian hummingbirds.  Mike has worked on numerous TV programmes as a reporter and presenter, and is currently on the BBC ONE Show.

My Wild Life is an illuminating and sideways look at what it takes to produce cheap and cheerful wildlife television. Featuring some clips from The One Show, Mike reveals what often goes on behind the scenes on location and spills the beans on everything you wanted to know about TV presenting but were afraid to ask…

In the second half, Mike recounts how he and his partner Christina spent a year converting their own back garden into a wildlife sanctuary in in the small rural village of Chew Stoke, near Bristol. From otters to badgers, chickens to hedgehogs, an orchard, a pond and compost bins, to the best birdlife imaginable… what began as a seemingly straightforward mission, My Garden and Other Animals soon became the adventure of a lifetime! Come and hear some of the fascinating encounters and hilarious incidents that happened just beyond Mike’s very own doorstep.

Come and enjoy an entertaining evening in the beautiful setting of the Gateway Centre, Spine Road, near South Cerney. Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm. Refreshments provided.
Tickets: £10 adults / £5 children
