CWP Ball table setting webOn Friday 03 March, nearly 200 people gathered in the stunning marquee at the De Vere Hotel for the second Cotswold Water Park Ball, organised by the CWP Trust. The whole place looked very atmospheric, with twinkling lights, blue uplighters, and vases of scented golden narcissi on each table bringing a touch of spring to a dark March evening.

There was a party-like atmosphere with many large groups of friends looking forward to spending the evening together, eating, drinking, dancing and having a good time.

The sparkling wine reception and canapes were followed by a delicious three course dinner with wine, and  during the evening we were entertained at the tables by the amazing sleight of hand magician, Alex Robertson of ARC Magic.

After the meal, a charity auction with some high quality prizes took place and we are very grateful to the following for donating such brilliant items – Orion Cotswolds, Habitat Escapes, Ballooning in the Cotswolds, Spa 6 at De Vere Hotel, Relish Events, Mango Bikes of South Cerney, and Robert Bewley. The Trust would also like to thank Stephen Dalton of Dominic Winter Auctioneers who volunteered his time to run the auction, and did a superb job in the process.

Mike Dilger, wildlife presenter from the BBC One Show gave a highly energetic and entertaining talk about his life as a wildlife enthusiast and TV presenter – complete with an incredible imitation of the call of the Andean cock of the rock bird – who knew?!

At this point the band were warming up and for the next three hours the amazing Curious Little Big Band sang and played to a packed dance floor, complete with crazy glasses and feather boas.CWP-Ball-CLBB-web

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, so at 1am, the taxis arrived, the band packed up, and peace reigned  – until next time!

We are very fortunate that David Mitchell, a professional photographer offered to take photos during the evening – so if you would like to see a much wider selection from the night, click here David Mitchell photography

Altogether it was a superb evening, and a huge thank you to the volunteers who made it possible – the Trust is delighted to announce that £6000 was raised and this will help the Trust to deliver its objectives of making the Water Park a better place for wildlife and people.
